Review card or WhatsApp

A review card only works at the counter

A card only catches the customer who happens to look at it. We ask the same question later, in a WhatsApp message, so it reaches the ones who are already home.

The difference

A card on the counter, or a message on their phone

Both ask for exactly the same review. What differs is who you reach, and when.

Physical review card

  • Only works while the customer is still at the counter
  • Someone still has to ask for it
  • The customer has to tap or scan it themselves
  • When the counter is busy, it's the first thing to go
  • You never know how many customers you asked

Review request via Tobachat

  • Goes out on its own, however busy it gets
  • Still reaches the customer hours or days later
  • 1 tap, in an app almost everyone opens
  • You decide when the message goes out
  • You see exactly what was sent, read, and clicked

In fairness: for an anonymous walk-in a card does the job, because you have no number to send anything to. But if you work with appointments, orders, or deliveries, that number is already in your system. There's no reason to wait until someone walks past the counter.

Setup

Three steps and you're set

1

Connect your WhatsApp

You register your business number once, through Meta's own sign-up screen. We're a Meta Tech Provider, so there's no separate developer application needed.

2

Pick the moment

You decide how many hours or days after the appointment the message goes out. For an online store we count from the delivery.

3

The reviews come in

The customer taps the button in the message and lands straight on your review page. Nothing else for you to do.

You only message customers who gave you their number and their permission. That's a Meta requirement, and the inbox keeps track of it for you, per contact.

How collecting reviews over WhatsApp works

When you send it

Moments where a card comes too late

The garage

The car has been picked up and the customer drives off. The question arrives two hours later, once that first drive is behind them.

The online store

There's no counter to leave a card on. Two days after delivery, we ask how it's working out.

The salon

Nobody asks for a review while the customer is paying. That evening, on the couch, they'll actually read the message.

In practice

Businesses that stopped asking at the counter

We mainly use Tobachat to collect reviews, and for us that's been exactly what we needed. We don't have to think about it and still get plenty of feedback. The system is smart: guests who are less satisfied reach us before they write anything online. For happy guests, leaving a review takes almost no effort, and in our industry that's worth a lot.

We've now onboarded more than ten businesses to Tobachat. Our clients are consistently happy with it, and the collaboration is a pleasure. Sandor, Arendo, and the team are always reachable and happy to think things through with us.

In hospitality, reviews matter. With Tobachat they come in without you having to ask. Smart system, easy to use.

Put the card away

Set the moment your customers are done yourself, and the message is ready to go. Short on time? We'll help you get going too.
