Campaigns

Campaigns

A campaign sends 1 approved template to the contacts you choose. The wizard has 3 steps and you can go back at any point.

The wizard

  1. 1

    Basics and template

Name the campaign, choose the number you're sending from, and choose the template. The list only offers approved templates belonging to the same WhatsApp Business account.

  2. 2

    Audience and variables

Pick one or more labels, or tick contacts individually. With labels you see the matching count immediately. Then map every variable in the template to a contact field, to a custom field from your import, or to a fixed piece of text. Opted-out contacts stay out of the selection.

  3. 3

    Review and start

You see the message as it will go out, with the recipient count. Send a test to your own number first. If it reads right, you start the campaign.

Sending and spreading

There's no date picker. A campaign begins when you start it.

If it's larger than what Meta allows your number per day, Tobachat spreads it across several days. Before you start you see how many messages go out per day and how long the whole run takes.

Pausing and resuming

You can pause a running campaign yourself and let it continue later. Messages already sent are never sent twice.

Tobachat also pauses on its own when an error comes back that affects the whole campaign rather than one recipient, such as a template Meta has rejected or a number that's temporarily blocked from sending. The campaign page then says what happened.

What you get back

The campaign page opens on counters for sent, delivered, read, and failed, which update while the run is in progress.

Under Recipients you get per contact the status, the timestamps, and Meta's error message if it failed. If the template carries a tracked button, a third tab shows clicks over time and which contacts clicked.

About that test message: actually send it. A variable that ends up empty because a contact field was blank gets rejected by Meta, and that only surfaces once you've sent the thing to yourself.
