Website button

Website button

A round WhatsApp button in the corner of your website. On a phone it opens WhatsApp with the message already filled in; on a computer it shows a QR code. One line of code, no cookies.

In three steps

  1. 1

    Create the button

Open Entry points in Tobachat and choose Website button. Pick the WhatsApp number and the message a visitor sends.

  2. 2

    Set it up

Choose the greeting in Dutch and English, the colour, the side of the screen, whether it shows on phones and computers, and on which pages. The preview sits next to the settings.

  3. 3

    Paste the line

Copy the line of code and paste it on your website, just before the end of the page. The button appears once the page is refreshed.

WordPress

Paste the line into the footer field of a plugin for headers and footers, or into your theme where custom footer code is allowed.

Google Tag Manager

Create a new Custom HTML tag, paste the line into it, choose All Pages as the trigger and publish the container.

Choosing pages

By default the button shows everywhere. Use Only on these pages and Not on these pages to choose by path, one per line. A * stands for anything, so /services/* is every page under /services/.

The greeting follows the language of the page (its lang attribute). If that is not Dutch, visitors see the English greeting.

What happens after the click

The chat starts with the message you set. Link an automation to it, or let the AI agent answer. Use different wording per button, so it is clear which button started the chat.

What you see afterwards

On the entry point you see how often the button was opened and how many messages came in. You also see the page, utm_source and utm_campaign the clicks came from. The utm values are taken from the address of the page the visitor landed on.

Privacy

The button sets no cookies, stores nothing in the browser and loads nothing from third parties. It fetches its settings from Tobachat. Per click we only count, in a daily total, how often the button was opened from a page, without tracking visitors.

Switching off: if you switch the entry point off or delete it, the button disappears from your website within a few minutes. The line of code can stay in place.
